Last week, we got a glimpse of one of the most anticipated new Disney Vacation Club properties, Aulani in Ko Olina, Hawaii opening Fall 2011. The Disney Hawaii Resort called Aulani is already booking guests for the opening in August of 2011. You can already start booking rooms and villas at this new DVC resort now. You can also begin purchasing real estate interest in Aulani at Disney Vacation Club.
Having just returned from our own Hawaiian vacation, I can say that we are very excited to go back and experience Hawaii with a bit of Disney thrown in. Locals have said that Disney has done an excellent job embracing the local culture, taking caution not to "Disne-fy" the islands.
I'm glad. One of the things I loved about Hawaii was that it felt like you were going to a new country, not just another state. For me, this was mainly due to the way Hawaiians have maintained so much of their culture and traditions. Also, much of Hawaii remains undeveloped and adds to the feeling that you're on a real adventure, even though "civilization" may only be a few miles or yards away.
