On Friday, September 25 Disney kicked off the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. We were there for this opening event and had a fabulous time eating, eating, and eating some more.
To kick off the event, we had a private wine tasting seminar with the Gary Vaynerchuk. He was amazing and taught us alot about wines. One of my favorite tips is always pour a bottle of wine into a decanter before enjoying. Wines are suppose to breath for 1/2 hour to an hour before you enjoy them. Try it, you will be amazed.
Besides this wine tasting seminar, there are lots of other opportunities to learn from some of them amazing Disney Chefs and even Chefs from some of your favorite shows, like the Food Network. If you are a beer lover, you can even have a beer tasting seminar with Sam Adams Beer in the American Adventure. All of these activities are free with your paid admission into Epcot.
Besides learning about Food & Wine, my favorite activity is sampling all of the food, wine and beers around the World Showcase. In the World Showcase, Disney sets up kiosks where you can purchase mini samples of foods from around the world. These samples range in price from $2.25-5.50. You can try soups, appetizers, entrees, and desserts all in small tastings. One of the great features of these samples are they are on the Dining Plan. You can use your snack from the Dining Plan for these kiosks.
For this trip, we did start at the entrance to the World Showcase with ice cream from Edy's. Always start a good meal with dessert! We then worked our way through Canada, United Kingdom, France and all of the way around to Mexico. My favorite samples were New Zealand with the Seared Sea Scallop and Ireland with the Lobster & Scallop Fisherman's Pie. My favorite dessert was actually in Ireland, too. They had a delicious Warm Chocolate Lava Cake. I actually went back for seconds at the Ireland booth for the Fisherman's Pie and Chocolate Cake. It was amazing to try all of the different tastes from around the world, all in one day.
The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is a free event with your paid admission into Epcot. Most of the activities for this event are located in the World Showcase. If you are planning a visit to Disney World, a trip to the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is a must do. It is a great way to spend an afternoon, dining around the world.
